Rendezvous Primitive Arms bucks the trend!
OK, here's the back ground.
Ione, California, pronounced "eye-own," is a small town located in the fertile Ione Valley in the foothills of the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains.
During the days of the California Gold Rush of 1849, the miners knew the town by the names of "Bedbug" and "Freezeout." Ione was an important supply center on the main route to the Mother Lode during the California Gold Rush. Unlike other communities in Amador County, which were founded on gold mining, Ione was a supply center, stage and rail stop, and agricultural hub.
In 1865, she was home for Company D, 2nd California Volunteer Cavalry for a while. During the 1876 American Centennial, it was recorded that Ione had one public school, 4 churches, 4 general stores, one meat market, one laundry, one brewery, a restaurant, millinery shop, an art gallery, six saloons, a drug store and barber shop, and many other business establishments. The American centennial also celebrated the completion of the railroad to the town of Ione. And with a population of about 600, having a railroad in town was a big deal.
Though the population has increased a bit and today comes in at roughly 7,900, Ione's main street hasn't really changed much since the 1870s and is still only about four blocks.
On Main Street in Ione, you will find the great folks at Rendezvous Primitive Arms. This place is outstanding!
When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the that the place is styled after a 1880's Saloon. It has saloon doors, all wood floors, aged wood paneling, belly-up to the "Bar" type service, and of course, rifles, handguns, shotguns, and bows and arrows everywhere you look.
So OK, anyone reading my blog knows that I love the "Old West." So yes, styling your business with a Western theme goes far in my book. I like the idea of people learning a little of what is a part of our history, and seeing how things looked is a big part of that - especially for kids.
Rendezvous Primitive Arms has indoor archery lanes.
For $5 a day - an archer has unlimited access. And yes, for someone that wants to get into archery but doesn't own a bow, they have bow rentals available. They even have a "Bullpen" area with seating and polycarbonate windows for safe observation.
And if you think these are just some light weight archers, well think again. First, they have an exclusive Robin Hood Club for archers who have, believe it or not, shot in arrow directly into the back of another arrow. And second, they have actually had two of their archers compete and place high in state finals.
Their website Rendezvous Primitive Arms says, "Unlike a typical archery shop, Rendezvous Primitive Arms is committed to providing a unique combination of excellent products at value pricing for serious archers and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for kids and families." And, it's true!
If you're looking for a great place to look over an outstanding line of bows and archery supplies of all sort - yes, anything you need and want - they have it.
But wait, they don't stop with archery!
They offer Handgun Safety Certificates and firearm transfers. And yes, those great folks also have affordable Firearms Classes and free seminars which are scheduled monthly.
Whether you're looking for a Basic Firearms Course, or a reasonably priced Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Training Course, they have both available.
As these folks will assure you, whether you're interested in recreational shooting, home safety, or personal protection - Rendezvous Primitive Arms can help you acquire the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude to safely pursue your interest.
I stopped in today to take a look at a new pistol, and while there I had the chance to meet one of the owners Rich Marino, and a few of the staff. The other owner is Bob Ralston.
I also stopped in to see how they were doing. Why? Well, its because besides archery, they sell firearms and ammunition and supplies - in the state of California. And since that's the case, Rich and Bob are truly bucking the trend of most gun shops by staying in business.
It's no secret that California is unfriendly to business in general, but gun stores that actually carry guns and ammunition, and hunting supplies of any sort, are becoming fewer and fewer everywhere in the state. The reason is simple, it's simply because they can't stay in business due to various, city, county, state and federal restrictions and regulations.
And yes, the whole "got cha" attitude from the government is closing down all sorts of legally licensed gun stores. All while California Legislature steadily marches towards passing further restrictions to our Second Amendment rights.
I mean let's be honest and call it like it is, the State of California is an Anti-Gun state - and they really don't care who knows it.
The battle for your Second Amendment rights continues to rage in Sacramento. In many counties, many gun stores have had to close their doors. The state knows it can't completely outlaw guns, so instead it attacks gun stores, ranges, and firearm and ammunition manufacturers.
Fact is, in the state of California - because the state is so Anti-Gun - places of business like Rendezvous Primitive Arms are definitely fighting to odds to stay in business. And yes, its because I know how hard it is for any gun store to stay in business - that I try to give stores like this my business whenever I can.
I really believe that by us giving gun stores - like Rendezvous Primitive Arms - our business, that we are actively supporting our right to keep and bear arms.
The folks at Rendezvous Primitive Arms say they pride themselves on having a friendly atmosphere and a true willingness to listen and learn what their customers are looking for.
I can tell you first hand, after asking a lot of questions about the pistol that I went there to see and being given a tour of the new state of the art indoor on site shooting range, they truly aim to please.
Arizona Secretary of State Threatens to Keep Obama’s Name Off Ballot Without Birth Certificate Verification
Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett is threatening to keep President Barack Obama’s name off the November ballot unless the state of Hawaii can verify that Obama’s birth certificate is valid.
Secretary of State Ken Bennett told KFYI Phoenix radio host Mike Broomhead that he’s "not a birther,” but that he‘s responding to constituent concerns in the wake of Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation into Obama’s long-form birth certificate.
Sheriff Arpaio released findings in March that said he believes the birth certificate the Obama White House released last year is a "computer-generated forgery."
"I'm not a birther, I believe the president was born in Hawaii - or at least I hope he was," said Bennett on KFYI.
"My responsibility as Secretary of State is to make sure the ballots in Arizona are correct and that those people whose names are on the ballot have met the qualifications for the office they are seeking."
Bennett said that since Arpaio’s investigation, he has received more than 1,200 emails from people requesting he look into the matter.
He said Hawaii has a system where they'll verify a birth certificate in lieu of providing a certified copy of it - and that eight weeks later, state officials have not fulfilled his request.
"They could say yes tomorrow and the whole thing goes away," Bennett said. "If they can’t say yes to that simple question, then it makes me wonder if we have to take it to another level. And one way or another, we have to have some simple verification that people are qualified for the office if they’re going to be on the ballot here in Arizona."
The issue gained further attention this week after World Net Daily, which has pursued theories that Obama’s birth certificate is a fake, published an email that Bennett sent to constituents about the matter:
"Because of the importance and profile of the president’s case, and at the request of many constituents, I have gone the extra step of asking the State of Hawaii to verify the facts contained in his birth certificate," Bennett wrote in response to concerns last month.
"If Hawaii can’t or won’t provide verification of the president’s birth certificate, I will not put his name on the ballot," he wrote.
A spokesman for Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett confirmed to the Phoenix New Times that the Secretary of State did write the email, saying, "With respect to the story, a constituent requested him to request a verification in lieu of certified copy. They have yet to respond."
Asked by Broomhead whether he would actually keep Obama off the state's ballot without the verification, Bennett responded, "It’s possible."
I can't wait to see what happens in Arizona, after all a few states are taking a long hard look at this to see if there it warrants a Congressional Investigation. I think it does, but I honestly don't think we'll find out the truth until Obama is out of Office next January. That is, if everyone shows up to vote!
Then there's this!
On the 17th, new evidence has been uncovered about President Barack Obama's youthful ambition to remake his personality as a 1991 literary agent’s catalog that described him - described Obama as having been born in Kenya.
The new Kenyan birth claim "fit[s] a pattern in which Obama - or the people representing and supporting him - manipulate his public persona," Breitbart.com editor Joel Pollak wrote.
"Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii,” said the 36-page catalog produced by a New York publisher, Acton & Dystel.
Van Jones rips Attorney General Eric Holder over Operation Fast and Furious saying, "We just don’t value all life the same"
Believe it or not, it appears that birds of a feather can sometimes disagree on really big issues. Take for example what has happened lately with Obama's resigned "Green Czar".
During a radio interview recently, former Obama "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones broke ranks with current and former administration officials and ripped into Attorney General Eric Holder for his handling of Operation Fast and Furious.
Operation Fast and Furious has been called "gun-walking," but friends, it was a gun-running smuggling operation that trafficked thousands of firearms across the Mexican border.
"I believe that if this was happening across our other border in Canada, we’d probably take it a little more seriously," Jones said, implying much of the carelessness over Operation Fast and Furious came because many of the victims are Hispanics from Mexico.
"I worry sometimes that we just don’t value all life the same," Jones added.
In addition to a connection between Operation Fast and Furious, and the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, and the murder of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata, and the more than 300 Mexican civilians that have been killed with guns the Obama administration gave to Mexican drug cartels - believe it or not, the Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder has actually conceded that more people will likely die as a result of his Justice Department’s screwed up operation.
Why? Because of the thousands of assault weapons that Holder allowed to be smuggled into Mexico, Holder now admits that many of those assault weapons have not been recovered.
Van Jones is not the first person to make such a suggestion. Right after Eric Holder played "The Race Card" last year by saying that all of the people who are calling for his resignation are racists, Arizona Republican Representative Paul Gosar fired back.
"He [Holder] brought up the race card, and while I think it’s absolutely horrendous that he would bring up the race card, in Fast and Furious, we were in fact impugning the Mexican people," Gosar told The Daily Caller in December. "About 300 people have lost their lives."
Van Jones comments against Eric Holder came during an appearance on a Conservative radio program, in what was a wide-ranging interview discussing similarities between Jones’ ideology and that of many Tea Party activists. Grassroots activists on both sides of the aisle, he said, should have more influence.
Host Brent Munlin pointed out that the "Tea Party is the one speaking out about this [Fast and Furious]; they’re the ones saying, 'Hey, people are getting killed, we don’t care if they’re white, they’re black, they’re brown.' It’s bull crap: that people are getting killed because of a government program that is just letting guns go across the border."
Van Jones agreed that "there has been too much violence."
"I don’t know the details of the program [Fast and Furious] or what the Attorney General, Eric Holder, has done or not done," Jones said. "I do know that we need to declare some kind of an emergency, and really look at the situation down there and figure out what is going on, and do better."
Jones added that he has several gripes with Holder, and insisted that he hasn’t held back on them.
"Obviously I’ve never bit my tongue in terms of my frustration with the Attorney General when it comes to a lot of things," Jones said, putting at the top of his list "the failure to prosecute any cases with the Wall Street debacle."
Jones also said that while he hasn’t closely followed all the developments on the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, he will ultimately back Conservatives who have pushed for greater accountability.
"I do know enough to know that something terrible is going on down there," Jones said. "And if the Tea Party is going to lead the way to try and shed some light on it, I’ll be right behind the Tea Party on it. I just don’t know enough about it right now."
My first reaction to this story was disbelief that Van Jones would be speaking out against Eric Holder, and second that he would actually commit to backing the Tea Party on our effort to find the truth behind who is responsible for handing over all of those guns to the Mexican Drug Cartels.
And no, I can't help but wonder who got paid for those gun? Who pocketed the money and who might still be sending guns across the border with the help of the Feds?
And in the mean while, Eric Hold thumbs his nose at Congress and the Contempt allegations - all while hundreds of poor Mexican folks are being slaughtered by ruthless killers who Holder ultimately armed.
Of course, if Holder were a white man, then I can say that - but because he's a black man, I'm sure some stupid bastard will call me a racist!
Federal government spent nearly $70 Billion on ‘Climate Change Activities’ since 2008
In other words, our Federal Government is spending money on a hoax, a swindle, a phony made up crisis by the Liberal Left that more than half of the scientific community agrees is false and an out and out scam!
Fact: Evidence points toward climate change being primarily a natural cyclic event, rather than a man-made phenomenon.
The Congressional Research Service estimates that since 2008 the federal government has spent nearly $70 Billion in Taxpayer money on "Climate Change Activities."
Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe presented the new CRS report on the Senate Floor Thursday to make the point that the Obama administration has been focused on "green" defense projects to the detriment of the military.
The report revealed that from fiscal years 2008 through 2012 the Federal government spent $68.4 billion to combat "Climate Change".
The Department of Defense also spent $4 Billion of its Budget, the report adds, on "Climate Change and energy efficiency activities" in that same time period.
Inhofe, the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, argued that the expenditures are "Foolish at a time when the military is facing devastating cuts."
"[E]veryone agrees that energy efficiency in the military is a worthy goal," he said. "In fact, I have been a strong supporter of some of Department of Defense's alternative energy solutions that are affordable and make sense, including their initiatives on non-algal bio-fuels and natural gas. But forcing our military to take money away from core programs in order to invest in unproven technologies as part of a failed cap-and-trade agenda is not only wrong, it’s reckless."
Inhofe, who correctly believes "Climate Change" is an unproven scientific theory at best and a hoax at worst, expressed concern about recent statements by Defense Secretary Leon Panetta expressing the department’s focus on making and keeping the military "green." All while spending Taxpayer money for troops and equipment on a scam.
Panetta’s comments came just two weeks prior to the Senate Armed Services Committee's markup of the current Defense Authorization bill. During that markup, Inhofe said he plans to "put the spotlight on President Obama forcing his costly green agenda on Department of Defense while Obama is gutting the defense budget."
He added his intention to introduce amendments to stop the Obama administration’s green military plans.
"As President Obama's war on affordable energy wages on, there are real threats out there, and, contrary to Secretary Panetta’s remarks, man-made catastrophic global warming isn’t one of them," Inhofe said.
The Oklahoma senator added that Panetta’s green focus reveals the administration’s true feelings about energy development.
"Secretary Panetta's commitment of a billion dollars for alternative fuels makes clear that, despite President Obama’s recent change in rhetoric for his re-election campaign, he remains fully determined to implement his all-out attack on traditional American energy development — and the military is one place where he can force it to happen," he said.
Inhofe noted "drastic" cuts in personnel, brigade combat teams, tactical fighters, and airlift aircraft Department of Defense has undergone in the last four years, along with the cancellation or postponement of specialized ship and aircraft construction.
"Which would you rather have? Would you rather spend $4 billion on Air Force Base solar panels, or would you rather have 28 new F-22s or 30 F-25s or modernized C-130s?" he asked.
"Would you rather have $64.8 billion spent on pointless global warming efforts or would you rather have more funds put towards modernizing our fleet of ships, aircraft and ground vehicles to improve the safety of our troops and help defend our nation against the legitimate threats that we face?"
According to Inhofe, Panetta's focus on greening the military was a direct order from the Obama White House - an order he should disobey.
"President Obama can write press releases for his lackeys but Secretary Panetta has an important job to do and doesn’t have time to be pandering to President Obama’s global warming fantasies or his ongoing war on affordable energy. He has a real war to win," Inhofe concluded.
I remember reading about government ministers and generals who just followed reckless policy without questioning their orders, and at the Nuremberg Trials that what they said, "We were just following orders."
Granted there is a big difference between the Nazi regime who killed millions because the "were just following orders" when compared to Obama administration that is spending Billion of Taxpayer Dollars on a scam like Climate Change.
But if the Obama is ordering the Department of Defense to spend its budget to "green the military" instead of on military equipment and the troops which may keep even one Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine from being killed by an IED or other threat - than there is no difference between those who "just follow orders" and get people killed in the process.
'Kill the Gay': Lesbian Couple Charged After Faking "Hate Crime"
When asked, the couple told police officers that they believed that the hateful acts were retaliation from their neighbors and the homeowner’s association, who were allegedly upset that the couple did not pick up after their dogs.
However, they refused to “submit to hate” and posted these signs on their garage in defiance.
But wait, the story gets better because of a twist of fate.
Perhaps the women didn’t anticipate how seriously the issue would be treated, because nearly eight months later, with the full force of the FBI involved, authorities are saying the lesbians themselves may have been responsible for the acts.
Now, both lesbians, have been charged with both criminal mischief and false reporting, and one of the women, Aimee Whitchurch, faces an additional charge of forgery.
One comment on this story caught my eye. The post said, It’s very profitable to be a victim.
Thinking about it, yes, he may be right that it is very profitable to be a victim these days. But right now, well I can't help but wonder if those two lesbians who faked the Hate Crime really think that their scam was worth it?
I know this is old new from April 27th, but I have just one thing to say about it.
Proposed USDA and Department of Labor regulation would have prohibited youth under the age of 16 from working in a pen or stall with an intact male animal, or cow that was still nursing or work with other animal husbandry practices like breeding, branding, dehorning, or treating sick animals, or herding animals in confined spaces or on horseback or using motorized vehicles.
The new USDA and Department of Labor regulations were badly put together, wrong in principle, and a perfect ewxample of Big Brother Socialism that truly believes that it has to regulate everyone's life.
The result was that the Obama administration caught Hell for it. They quickly changed their tune and withdrew the proposed regulation.
This is a victory for the American people! It is a tribute to the vocal strength that Americans have when they truly want to assert themselves and make their anger heard. Good job folks!
Reusable shopping bags may give consumers the "runs" for their money
Thanks to proposed legislation scheduled for a vote on May 23rd, the millions of shoppers in the Los Angeles area will no longer be able to get disposable plastic shopping bags in stores.
Can you hear the celebrating Environmental nutcases in the background? They are happy. This is a great victory for the jerkweeds.
There is a problem with this that I'm sure the Environmentalist couldn't care less about, you see, what Environmentalists see as a win for landfills may also be a loss for Public Health.
That's right, our health will be at risk because of the crazies that care more about a landfill than they do about people - ie: human beings.
I first heard about this about a year ago, but now Oregon researchers have come out with a discovery that may alarm people enough to demand the use of those flimsy plastic bags.
Oregon researchers have discovered a "norovirus" - "the perfect human pathogen" - present on reusable shopping bags that were left in a hotel bathroom, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The virus is believed to have caused an outbreak of diarrhea, vomiting and nausea that afflicted nine of thirteen girls on a youth soccer team, along with their parent chaperons and members of the girls’ families.
