M...Perhaps you can find one on an antiques website. My friend Bruce was telling me about how he was able to find a Stetson hat decal on a random website called, "Vegas Showroom Unlimited." Don't know if it's still up or not. They started their website in 2004 and it was owned by John Elbrin. John soon became ill and eventually died so it was turned over to his older son, Tom, who is an official expert on the Stetson hat. John's widow, Kathy, told me when I met her that John was working on an independent page for Western memorabilia to put on his site including Stetson hats, guns, gun belts, holsters, costumes, sombreros, and even spurs. I met Kathy in 2012 and she was nice enough to give my grandmother a Stetson hat that she later gave to me. My friend, Bruce Roberts, bought three Stetson hats and the decal from their site. He even bought a Colt .45 Peacemaker revolver that was worked on by Jim Latna who lived in Los Angeles in the 50s. Now I don't know about the history on Jim Latna or even if he's still alive but it is said that he worked for Colt from 1958 to 1984. If he is still alive, he'd be 94. Bruce, however, is 67. I'm 29 and Tom Elbrin is 62. Then John's youngest son, Ray, is 58. Kathy Elbrin is 84. They still live in Las Vegas, Nevada but Ray Elbrin now works at Western Stage Props. If their website is still up, you should be official to find John's independent page for the Stetsons. He was working on a full page when he died in 2009. He was 74. That should answer your question. If you find the website, tell them I sent you. Take care.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632055767270986594.post-62042245526457090232020-01-26T06:25:04.219-08:002020-01-26T06:25:04.219-08:00anybody help me out with an 1878 Fall Winter Style...anybody help me out with an 1878 Fall Winter Styles John B Stetson Hat Manu Facturers Philadelphia hat advertisement print has been plastic laminated I know they were reproduced in the 60's 70's apparently but ave no dea if mine is old or a repro stx908@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14945009545799183202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2632055767270986594.post-22154007603369480222016-08-08T12:34:08.905-07:002016-08-08T12:34:08.905-07:00I agree 100%! But since many of my readers had written to ask what part of Texas he was from, I have found that a number of folks find it a surprise that John B was an "Easterner" and not from Texas or somewhere else out West. Thanks for visiting my site. It's much appreciated. John Butterfield, of the Overland Mail Company the world's longest stage line, was from New York. Many of his employees were from Upstate New York including most of the stagecoach drivers. John appointed Marquis L. Kenyon of Rome, New York, to select the route and the station sites. At that time most of the experienced stage men in the country were from the East--and John Butterfield was the king of them all. Even Wells and Fargo got their start in Upstate New York.<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
