The 1860 Wiyot Indian Massacre

Dear Friends,

California has more Native American Indian Tribes than any other state. And yes, this was one of the worst massacres that ever took place against Indians in California. Arcata, California's, local newspaper, The Northern Californian, described the scene as follows:

"Blood stood in pools on all sides; the walls of the huts were stained and the grass colored red. Lying around were dead bodies of both sexes and all ages from the old man to the infant at the breast. Some had their heads split in twain by axes, others beaten into jelly with clubs, others pierced or cut to pieces with bowie knives. Some struck down as they mired; others had almost reached the water when overtaken and butchered."

The Wiyot Indians are an indigenous people of California living near the Humboldt Bay and surrounding areas. They are culturally similar to the Yurok people of California. Their stretch of shoreland was mostly sandy tidal marshes. And yes, the Wiyots were among the last native Americans in California to encounter white settlers.

For several days before the massacre, World Renewal ceremonies were being held at the village of Tuluwat, on "Indian Island" less than a mile offshore from Eureka in Humboldt Bay. Up to two hundred fifty Wiyot Indians participated in their ceremonies. The leader of the Humboldt Bay Wiyots was Captain Jim. He organized and led the ceremony to start a new year.

The day before the massacre, February 25th , the Weekly Humboldt Times wrote:

"The Indians are still killing stock of the settlers in the back country and will continue to do so until they are driven from that section, or exterminated"

Meanwhile prominent local residents had already formed a vigilante committee to deal with the problem, and were sworn to never reveal their membership.

The Wiyot Massacre took place on February 26th, 1860, at Tuluwat on what is now known as "Indian Island," near Eureka in Humboldt County, California. The killings followed two years of open aggression by the whites against the residents of Indian Island, numerous editorials in the local newspapers, and the formation of volunteer militia groups.

Immigrant whites had settled in the area since the California Gold Rush, over the 10 years before the massacre. The Wiyot were a peaceful tribe that had never fought with white settlers and had no reason to expect an attack.

On the night of 26th February 1860, a small group of white men crossed Humboldt Bay and to avoid drawing attention from nearby Eureka residents, some of whom may not have condoned the killings, carried out the attack primarily with hatchets, clubs and knives.

They came to the island in the early morning after the last ceremony was completed and most of the Indian men had left the island, leaving only women and children. The whites were armed with hatchets, clubs and knives and had left most of their guns behind so the noise of the slaughter would be only screams rather than gunshots.

Contrary to a commonly held view, guns were also used to kill Indians as some Eureka residents reported hearing shots that night. Sadly, knowledge of the attack was not widespread at the time.

Three days before the massacre, on Washington's birthday, a logging mill engineer from Germany named Robert Gunther bought the island property. Gunther had been asleep on the mainland across Humboldt Bay from the Island and had woken up to what he thought were screams, but went back to sleep. The next morning he was awakened by the Justice of the Peace who went with Gunther to inspect the Island following reports that Indians had been killed.

He was appalled by what he saw, recalling “ …what a sight presented itself to our eyes. Corpses lying all around, and all women and children, but two. Most of them had their skulls split. One old Indian, who looked to be a hundred years old, had his skull split, and still he sat there shivering”.

Gunther initially desired to bring the guilty to justice, but learned "We soon found that we had better keep our mouths shut."

This was not the only massacre that took place that night. Three other attacks on Indian settlements took place within 2 days: at the South Spit (Eureka), at South Fork Eel River (Rohnerville), and at Eagle Prairie (Rio Dell).

Gunther said, "It was never publicly known who did the killing, yet secretly the parties were pointed out."

Reports of the number of Wiyots killed that night vary from 80 to 250; they were mostly women and children, who were apart from the men conducting ceremonies. There was one survivor of the massacred group on Tutulwat, an infant called Jerry James.

News accounts report only the shooting of adult men, but that was not true. White settlers slaughtered women and children.

Based upon Wiyot Tribe estimates about 250 Wiyot men, women, and children were murdered -- most were hacked to death. Yes, hacked to death.

Because most of the adult able-bodied men were away gathering supplies as part of continuing preparation for the World Renewal Ceremony, sort of like their Spring Festival, nearly all the Wiyot men murdered are believed to have been old men -- which is believed to be one reason why the Wiyot were largely defenseless.
It is untrue to say the Wiyot were killed with ease because they were "exhausted from the annual celebration." The celebration usually lasted seven to 10 days, and the men traditionally left at night for the supplies while the elders, women and children slept. That is why most victims were children, women, and older men.

Were there survivors who witnessed what took place?
Yes, there were few survivors who watched the whole thing. One woman, Jane Sam, survived by hiding in a trash pile. Two cousins, Matilda and Nancy Spear, hid with their three children on the west side of the island and later found seven other children still alive. A young boy, Jerry James, was found alive in his dead mother's arms. Polly Steve was badly wounded and left for dead but recovered.

One of the few Wiyot men on the island during the attack, Mad River Billy, jumped into the bay and swam to safety in Eureka. Another woman, Kaiquaish (also known as Josephine Beach) and her eleven month old son William survived by not being on the island in the first place. Kaiquaish had set out in a canoe with her son to take part in the ceremonies, but became lost in the fog and was forced to return home before the attacks began. May Burton is said to be the only child saved from the Indian Island Massacre.

They Were Coordinated Attacks

The Tuluwat/Indian Island massacres was part of a coordinated simultaneous attack that targeted other nearby Wiyot sites, including an encampment on the Eel River. The same day the same party was reported to have killed 58 more people at South Beach, about 1 mile south of Eureka even though many of the women worked for the white families and many could speak "good English."

On February 28th, 1860, 40 more Wiyot were killed on the South Fork of the Eel River, and 35 more at Eagle Prairie a few days later.

The Massacres And The Truth Did Not Matter To The Press

The Humboldt Times newspaper editorialized:

"For the past four years we have advocated two—and only two—alternatives for ridding our country of Indians: either remove them to some reservation or kill them. The loss of life and destruction of property by the Indians for ten years past has not failed to convince every sensitive man that the two races cannot live together, and the recent desperate and bloody demonstrations on Indian Island and elsewhere is proof that the time has arrived that either the pale face or the savage must yield the ground."

One writer in nearby Union, which is now Arcata, California, was the then-unknown Bret Harte who wrote against the killers. Harte was working as a printer's helper and assistant editor at a local newspaper at the time, and his boss was temporarily absent, leaving Harte in charge of the paper.

Harte published a detailed account condemning the event, writing:

"A more shocking and revolting spectacle never was exhibited to the eyes of a Christian and civilized people. Old women wrinkled and decrepit lay weltering in blood, their brains dashed out and dabbled with their long grey hair. Infants scarcely a span along, with their faces cloven with hatchets and their bodies ghastly with wounds."

Harte would soon need to leave the area due to the threats against his life. Yes, Harte was threatened and in danger of mob violence. He quit his job and left Union, California, in March 1860. He left on the steamer Columbia for San Francisco, where an anonymous letter published in a city newspaper is attributed to him. His letter described the widespread community approval of the massacre.

While a few local citizens also wrote letters to the San Francisco papers condemning the attacks, and even naming suspected conspirators, local sentiment was in favor of what took place. The Humboldt Times apparently represented the mainstream opinion in the area at the time.

An investigation failed to identify a single perpetrator, although those who did the killing were rumored to be well known. The grand jury summoned witnesses and held hearings, no one was indicted. Yes, its true, though the attack was widely condemned in newspapers outside of Humboldt County, no one was ever prosecuted for the grisly murders.

Motive for the attacks was never clearly established, but greed for their lands and racial hatred is believed at the root of what took place. But though many knew that was the case, local sheriff, Barrant Van Ness, stated in a newspaper editorial published in The San Francisco Bulletin a few days after the massacre that the motive was revenge for cattle rustling.

Ranchers in the inland valleys claimed as much as one-eighth of their cattle had been stolen or slaughtered by Indians over the previous year and one rancher, James C. Ellison, was killed while pursing suspected rustlers in May 1859. But the area where the ranches were located was occupied by the Nongatl tribe and not the Wiyot.

So really, the victims of the massacre would not have been responsible for any rustling. Besides, how can anyone possibly justify the hacking to death of women and children and old men over a few stolen cattle? Really, massacre people over a few head of cattle? Friends, no one in their right mine, back then or today, can excuse such barbarism on the part of the settlers -- especially if it were over a a few stolen cattle.

Fact is, while cattle were prized possessions, cattle and even mules were routinely stolen by tribes up and down California during the Gold Rush and afterwards. Part of the reason for the thievery was that wild game was depleted because of the huge influx of people from arriving all over the world into California. This influx of people consumed what was was traditionally the food source for the tribes.

Because of the game being hunted by new arrivals, the tribes faced starvation if it weren't for the cattle and mules they stole. While that might not make stealing right, it does make it understandable why they resorted to stealing livestock. I believe they really had no choice. After all, you would too if you were faced with possible starvation.

Major Gabriel J. Rains was the Commanding Officer of Fort Humboldt at the time. The vigilantes, calling themselves the "Humboldt Volunteers, Second Brigade", had been formed in early February 1860 in the inland town of Hydesville, one of the ranching communities in the Nongatl area.

Major Rains, sometimes spelled "Raines", reported on the massacre to his superiors that "Captain Wright's Company of vigilantes held a meeting at Eel River and resolved to kill every peaceable Indian - man, woman, and child."

In his army reports, appalled at the massacres and at the openly discussed aims of the local white settlers to kill the Wiyot, he stated there were 55 killed at Indian Island, 40 on South Fork Eel River, and 35 at Eagle Prairie. South Fork Eel River became Rohnerville and was later annexed by Fortuna. Eagle Prairie is now the site of the town of Rio Dell.

Sheriff Van Ness closed his written statement by saying he did not excuse the killers for their deeds, specifically saying they spent most of February "in the field" attacking Indians along the Eel River.

A petition had been sent to California Governor John G. Downey asking that the Humboldt Volunteers be mustered into service and given regular pay. But Governor Downey declined the petition, stating that the U.S. Army was sending an additional Company of Regulars to Fort Humboldt.

The Wiyot Tribe said their people were not allowed to return to the island or their other land and they often found their land stolen or destroyed.

The decimated Wiyot people.

They were corralled at Fort Humboldt for their "protection." Soldiers from Fort Humboldt took many of the surviving Wiyot into protective custody at the fort, later transporting them to the Klamath River Reservation. Survivors were also herded mostly to Round Valley, established as an Indian reservation within California.

So what is the difference between "protective custody" and prison? Not much, because they kept escaping and returning to their homeland.

The tribes of a few thousand Wiyot and Karok people living within that area in 1850 changed drastically after the 1860 massacre. And by 1910, there were fewer than 100 full blood Wiyot people living within the Wiyot territory of California.

The rapid decline in population was from disease, slavery, dying in protective custody, being herded from place to place in what survivors' and their descendants describe as "death marches," target practice and out right murder.

Only recently has the Wiyot Indian tribe repurchased the land in order to perform their annual World Renewal Ceremony.

The First Battle of Adobe Walls

The First Battle of Adobe Walls was a battle between the United States Army and Native American Indians, which actually took place during the Civil War. It was a battle in which the Kiowa, Comanche, Plains Apache, the Kiowa Apache tribes drove U.S. forces from the battlefield.  Yes, it resulted in a retreat.

The Union Army sent an Expeditionary Force to northern Texas in response to attacks on white settlers moving into the Southwest. The battle, which took place on November 25, 1864, resulted in light casualties on both sides but is considered one of the Great Plains' largest engagements. If the years 1864 rings a bell - it's because the Civil War was still going very strong.

Gen. James H. Carleton, commander of the military units in New Mexico, was determined to halt Comanche and Kiowa attacks on Santa Fe wagon trains. The Plains Indians saw the wagons and buffalo hunters as trespassers who were killing off "their" buffalo - their food. General Carleton wanted to put an end to the raids or send a sharp signal to the Indians that the Civil War had not left the United States unable to protect its people. Because he was the most seasoned veteran Indian fighter at his disposal, Carleton selected famous mountain man and Indian fighter Christopher "Kit" Carson to lead the Expeditionary Force.

During the Civil War, Kit Carson held the rank of Colonel in the Union Army. Col. Carson took command of the First Cavalry, New Mexico Volunteers, with orders to proceed against the Comanches and Kiowas' winter campgrounds, which were reported to be somewhere in the Palo Duro Canyons of the southern Panhandle area, on the south side of the Canadian River.

The Carson expedition was the second invasion into the heart of the Comanche homeland known as "Comancheria," after the Antelope Hills Expedition. The Antelope Hills Expedition was a campaign from January 1858 to May 1858 by the Texas Rangers and other allied native American tribes against Comanche and Kiowa villages in the Comancheria. That campaign began in western Texas and ending in a series of fights with the Comanche tribe on May 12, 1858, at a place called Antelope Hills by Little Robe Creek, a tributary of the Canadian River in what is now Oklahoma.

The hills are also called the "South Canadians," as they surround the Canadian River. The fighting on May 12, 1858, is often called the Battle of Little Robe Creek.

The years 1856 to 1858 on the Texas Frontier were particularly vicious and bloody as the settlers continued to encroach into the Comancheria. They plowed under valuable hunting grounds, and the Comanche lost grazing land for their herds of horses. In addition to the influx of settlers, the United States Army had waged a campaign to block the Comanche's traditional raids into Mexico.

Finally, the Comanches struck back with a series of ferocious and bloody raids against the settlers. At the time, with the focus of the Union Army on the war with the Confederacy, the Union Army proved wholly unable to stem the violence. Not only were units being transferred, but federal law and numerous treaties barred the Army from attacking Indians in the Indian Territories.

Although many Indians, such as the Cherokee, were trying to farm and live as settlers, the Comanche and Kiowa continued to live in that part of the Indian Territories, traditionally the Comancheria, while raiding into Texas.

On November 10th, Col. Carson arrived at Fort Bascom with fourteen officers, 321 enlisted men, and seventy-five Ute and Jicarilla Apache scouts and fighters he had recruited from Lucien Maxwell's ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico.

On November 12, Carson's force, accompanied by two mountain howitzers under the command of Lt. George H. Pettis, twenty-seven wagons, an ambulance, and supplied with forty-five days of rations, proceeded down the Canadian River into the Texas Panhandle. Carson had decided to march first to Adobe Walls, which he was familiar with more than 20 years earlier.

Carson, long familiar with the Utes and Jicarillas, had confidence in his Indian scouts. They covered his flanks, and each morning two of them rode far ahead of the slow-moving column to search for Comanche and Kiowa encampments. Inclement weather, including an early snowstorm, also added to the slow progress.

On November 24, 1864, the First Cavalry reached Mule Springs, in Moore County, approximately 30 miles west of Adobe Walls. That same afternoon, the Indian scouts reported they had found the trail of a large Indian village.

Carson left his infantry behind to guard his supply train and ordered a night march of cavalry and artillery. He rode in the van with the Ute and Jicarilla. The next morning he ordered the two howitzers forward to join him in the van. Coming to the easily-fordable Canadian River, he deployed one cavalry company on the north side of the river and continued with the remainder on the south side.

The battle of Adobe Walls occurred on November 25, 1864, in the vicinity of Adobe Walls, the ruins of William Bent's abandoned adobe trading post and saloon, located on the northern side of the Canadian River 17 miles northeast of present-day Stinnett in Hutchinson County.

The battle came about when General James H. Carleton, commander of the military district of New Mexico, decided to severely punish the Kiowa and Comanche, who he saw as responsible for attacks on wagon trains on the Santa Fe Trail. Remember, the Indians saw the wagon trains as trespassers who killed buffalo and other game the Indians needed to survive. Also, keep in mind, as the Civil War drained available troops, attacks on the Great Plains worsened. This lead to cries from settlers for more protection against the Indians in 1863.

Approximately two hours after daybreak on November 25, 1864, Carson's cavalry found and attacked a Kiowa village of 176 lodges. The Chief, Dohasan, and his people fled, passing the alarm to allied Comanche villages nearby.

Marching forward to Adobe Walls, four miles from the Kiowa village, Carson dug in there about 10:00 am, using one corner of the ruins for a hospital. To his absolute surprise, Col. Carson discovered several villages in the area -- including a huge Comanche village.

Carson saw large numbers of Indians pouring forward to engage him in battle. It was a much greater force than he had expected. I imagine that he must have felt the same as George Custer did years later when he, too, underestimated the number of Indians he was up against.

Captain Pettis, who is said to have written the most complete report of the battle, estimated that 1,200 to 1,400 Comanche and Kiowa attacked the soldiers and Indian scouts, who numbered 330. And remember, 75 of those men had been left behind to guard the supply train.

"Throw a few shells into that crowd over there," said Col. Carson to artillery officer Lt. Pettis

Carson dismounted his cavalry and deployed them around the two howitzers. His Indian scouts skirmished with about 200 Comanche and Kiowa warriors "mounted and covered with paint and feathers...charging backwards and forwards...their bodies thrown over the sides of their horses, at a full run, and shooting occasionally under their horses."

Dohasan, assisted by Satank and Satanta, led the Kiowas in the first attack. Fierce fighting developed as the Kiowa, Plains Apache, and Comanche warriors repeatedly attacked Carson's position. Satanta replied to Carson's bugler with his own bugle calls to confuse the soldiers.

Carson succeeded in repelling the attacks only through his clever use of supporting fire from the twin howitzers. The first shells from the howitzers caused the Comanche and Kiowa to retire from the battlefield, but they soon returned in even greater numbers to renew the attack.

By afternoon, Pettis estimated Carson's army faced more than 3,000 Indians.

Yes, it looked as though Carson could have been Custer! After six to eight hours of fairly continuous fighting, Carson realized he was running low on howitzer shells and ammunition in general and ordered his forces to retreat to the Kiowa village in his rear. At the same time, Carson was also concerned about the fate of the 75 men guarding his much-needed supply train.

The Indians tried to block his retreat by setting fire to the grass and brush down near the river. However, Carson set back-fires and retreated to higher ground, where his twin howitzers continued to hold off the Indians.

When twilight came, Carson ordered about half his command and his Indian scouts to burn the village's lodges. This also resulted in the death of the Kiowa-Apache chief Iron Shirt, who refused to leave his tipi. The soldiers also confiscated "finely finished buffalo robes" and burned the rest, and the Indian scouts killed and mutilated four wounded Kiowas too injured to flee.

Carson's soldiers continued their retreat and found their supply train intact that night. Carson and his soldiers rested in camp on November 26. The Indians were visible on a hilltop about two miles away. And while Carson's Indian scouts skirmished with the Comanche and Kiowa, no serious attack was mounted on the soldiers.

The next day, Carson gave the order to return to New Mexico. Some of his officers wished to renew the battle, but Carson, consulting only with his Utes and Jicarillas, ordered the retreat to New Mexico. In all, Carson's troops and Indian scouts lost a few men, and there were twenty-five wounded. While Indian casualties were estimated at 100 to 150, no one really knows if those numbers are correct or not.

One Comanche scalp was reportedly taken by a young Mexican volunteer in Carson's expedition, which disbanded after returning to Fort Bascom without further incident. And as strange as it might sound, believe it or not, the United States Army declared the First Battle of Adobe Walls "a victory."

On the contrary, the Kiowa recorded in their annual record, painted on a buffalo skin, that the period was "muddy travel winter, the time when the Kiowas repelled Kit Carson."

Carson was well known by all the Indians of the Southern Plains. The battle left the Comanche and Kiowa unchallenged in their control of the Texas Panhandle until the Battle of the North Fork of the Red River eight years later.

Most believe that Kit Carson's decision to retreat was wise and that he deserves credit for a good defense. Fact is, he was outnumbered, and it was only because of his clever use of back-fires and his deployment of his howitzers that prevented his force from being overrun and massacred as Custer was later at the Little Bighorn.

A few days later, after the battle of Adobe Walls, Colonel John M. Chivington led Union troops in a massacre of a village of friendly Cheyenne and Arapaho encamped in southeastern Colorado Territory at a place called Sand Creek.

Chivington boasted that he had surpassed Carson and would soon be known as the great Indian killer. As for Carson, he is said to have expressed outrage at the massacre and openly denounced Chivington's actions.

General Carleton applauded Col. Carson's retreat in the face of overwhelming odds at Adobe Walls, calling it "an outstanding military accomplishment; though the former mountain man was unable to strike a killing blow, he is generally credited with a decisive victory."

In October 1865, General Carleton recommended that Carson be awarded the brevet rank of brigadier general, "for gallantry in the battle of Valverde, and for distinguished conduct and gallantry in the wars against the Mescalero Apaches and against the Navajo natives of New Mexico."

The First Battle at Adobe Walls would be the last time the Comanche and Kiowa forced American troops to retreat from a battlefield and marked the beginning of the end of the plains tribes and their way of life. The battle was one of the largest engagements between whites and Indians on the Great Plains. The result of that war was that the Southern Plains campaign led the Comanches to sign the Little Rock Treaty of 1865.

Carson afterward contended that if Adobe Walls was to be reoccupied, at least 1,000 fully equipped troops would be required. As for reports of what took place, the first eyewitness account of the battle other than Carson's military correspondence was published in 1877 by George Pettis, who had served as the expedition's artillery officer.

A decade later, the Second Battle of Adobe Walls was fought on June 27th, 1874, between 700 Comanche and 28 American buffalo hunters defending the settlement of Adobe Walls for similar reasons. During that fight, which included a four-day siege, the Indians withdrew.

The Second Battle is historically significant because it led to the Red River War of 1874-75, resulting in the Southern Plains Indians' final relocation to reservations in what is now Oklahoma.

Obama Targeting American Citizen George Zimmerman.

The latest news is that President Obama is now personally targeting American citizen George Zimmerman.

I have searched old newspapers and gone into history books and can't find anywhere where a United States President has actually used the power of the Oval Office to target one American Citizen after a jury has found that citizen Not Guilty.

Yes, this is a first!

Yes, it is something that no other American can say he or she has had to endure.

Not even Al Capone, John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, or any known modern day serial killer such as the Zodiac Killer of the 1960s who killed as many as 37 people, has had the power of the President of the United States thrown agianst them.

No, only lone George Zimmerman can now make that claim!

While blacks kill their own and others for the thrill of it, the President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama has tasked his Justice Department to go about the business of persecuting one man for defending his own life.

Yes, while the black epidemic of violence in America is everywhere, George Zimmerman has become the poster boy for black hate in America.

First it was political pressure on the state of Florida, then it was trial that many as a no-win situation for Zimmerman.

Right after George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder on July 13 in the killing of Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, the political pressure increased.

The Sanford Florida Police Department confirmed that Monday, July 22nd, they had delivered boxes of evidence from their Zimmerman investigation, including Zimmerman's firearm which rightfully should have gone back to the Zimmerman, all to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice.

Of course President Obama came out last week and made a statement in a feeble attempt to justify the anger of the black community.

Obama said, "It's important [for the rest of America] to recognize that the African American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences, and a history that doesn't go away."

Obama said there are "very few" black men who haven't been followed while shopping at a department store -- "that includes me."

"I don't want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African American community interprets what happened one night in Florida," Obama said.

I say, OK, but let's be fair about this - the reverse is also true!

It's important to recognize that the White and Hispanic and Asian American communities are "looking at this issue through a set of experiences, and a history that doesn't go away also."

No one is saying that ALL black people are racists and killers, just as it is a fact that not ALL whites and Hispanics and Asian Americans are racists and killers - but let's face facts and admit that crime statistics speak for themselves when it comes to black violence in America.

Black violence is an epidemic!

The black community is 13% of the population and responsible for over 50% of the crime in our country.

That in itself is the major reason that other Americans are either apprehensive or out and out fearful of blacks who look like punks.

And yes, there are some black Americans who see things for what they are!
After the Zimmerman verdict was made public, there was one lone black voice out there who said all the right things.

And no, it wasn't President Obama or Attorney General Eric Holder.

Believe it or not, it was rapper Lupe Fiasco!

Who? The black singer, rapper, entertainer, record producer, by the name of Lupe Fiasco is not someone who I'm at all familiar with.

And no, I don't know if he has incited whatever in his rap songs. But on the Zimmerman verdict, Mr Fiasco is a smart man who is right on point!

After the acquittal of George Zimmerman, Lupe Fiasco, 31, gave black America another dose of what some might call tough love after a six-person female jury found Zimmerman not guilty.

"Half y’all been partying to Black Death for the past two decades … the other half watched the party … don’t be angry now!" wrote Fiasco to his more than one million followers.

“Rub your face in it! Swallow down that hard pill! Black blood spills in the streets of America nightly at the hands other blacks. [...] “Curse, kick, scream, yell, tweet, unfollow. Don’t matter to me if y’all don’t start valuing yourselves N—s will be in the same boat tomorrow.”

He then called out the media for race-baiting throughout the trial.

“The case should have never been televised as the potential to antagonize U.S. race relations was, in my dumb opinion too risky and unnecessary,” wrote Fiasco.

So, instead of focusing on Al Sharpton's race-baiting. why isn't the liberal media focused on what Mr Fiasco has to say? Why aren't they listening to him?

After all, he's absolutely right!

Could it be that sane and intelligent black-American men like Lupe Fiasco don't count when it comes to staying calm and correctly assessing the situation that the black community faces today?

Have you heard these articles below on the liberal news?

In the 513 Days between Zimmerman shooting Martin out of Self Defense and the Zimmerman Trial Verdict, 11,106 Blacks have been Murdered by other Black-Americans!

Yes, over 11 thousand black on black murders since April of last year!

Facts are facts, and one fact that is hard to spin is that 93% of Black-American murders are committed by other Black-Americans.

As amazing as it is, 8,000-9,000 Black-Americans are murdered each year.

And yes, 93% of them are murdered by other Blacks.

That means that 21.65 blacks are murdering each other each day!

And yet, even with these facts, black militant leasders get all riled up and reach for the first microphone that they can find and scream "Racist" when a "White-Hispanic-American" kills a Black-American who is trying to kill him.

Yes, it’s absolutely insane!

When I first read an article that talked about this, I questioned the figures. But after some checking, the figures don't lie!

Based on current rates of first incarceration, an estimated 32% of black males will enter State or Federal prison during their lifetime, compared to 17% of Hispanic males and 5.9% of white males.

In May of 2012, Judge Marvin Arrington, who himself is black, confirmed a report from the Atlanta Police Department that gave statistical proof that blacks were responsible for virtually all crime in the city of Atlanta.

It's true, for the city of Atlanta, looking at statistics from April 2011 to April 2012, the results were unbelieveable:

In Atlanta, African-Americans are 54% of the population, but were responsible for 100% of the homicides, 95% of the rapes, 94% of the robberies, 84% of aggravated assaults, and 93% of the burglaries. (Source: Atlanta Police Department Uniform Crime Reports, Apr 2011 to Apr 2012)

And yes, in the 513 days between the time that Trayvon Martin attacked George Zimmerman and got shot while trying to smash Zimmerman's head into the cement pavement, and the Not Guilty verdict on Saturday night, a total of 11,106 Black-Americans have been murdered by other Blacks.

So where is the outrage from the black community? Where is the outrage from President Obama who can't understand why the rest of America sees blacks the way they do?

Someone should explain it to him!

But no, no one wants to talk about it because it doesn't serve their cause of inciting devision and devisiveness amoung Americans of different races.

The black leadership in America acts more like pimps who know that they have to keep their favorite whore by the name of "Racism" working to produce for them!

All the while, they don't care about those they use to get what they want.

And how about that 7% of Black-Americans who are killed by Whites and Hispanics and "Others"?

Well, it sure doesn't match the number of Black-Americans who are killing Whites and Hispanics and "Others".

Latest Report: African-Americans Account For 4 Of 5 Arrests Made In Washington DC

African Americans make up slightly more than half the population of Washington, D.C., but they account for nearly 80% of arrests in the city, and 90% of drug arrests, says a new report by a group of civil rights lawyers.

According to the Washington Lawyers' Committee, arrest statistics from 2009 through 2011 reveal a "remarkable disparity" between the number of arrests of whites and blacks in Washington D.C.

The report notes that drug arrests -- 60% of which were for simple possession -- were particularly high among blacks, despite evidence showing that blacks are no more likely to use drugs than whites.

Of every 10 people arrested for drug crimes in the years covered by the report, 9 were black, according to the study.

The authors conclude that these arrest patterns may have "significant implications" for the black community in the city.

"Even when an arrest does not result in a conviction," they write, "the arrest itself can have lasting impacts on an individual’s ability to return to school, get and keep a job, find housing, and maintain his or her social and economic standing."

They also argue that the arrests place a needless burden on taxpayers by forcing the criminal justice system to process "tens of thousands of people for behaviors that might be handled in a way less costly to the system and less destructive."

In other words, it appears, the civil rights lawyers at the Washington Lawyers' Committee think blacks should get a pass.

The report comes amid mounting concerns over racial disparities in black arrests around the country, particularly for non-violent drug crimes.

In January, the American Civil Liberties Union reported that blacks are nearly four times as likely as whites to be arrested for marijuana crimes.

According to the ACLU, that gap has widened in the last decade, even as support for the decriminalization of marijuana has grown.

Last month, in a special report on marijuana arrests in Washington, D.C., the ACLU found that the local arrest rate for marijuana crimes among blacks there jumped from 521 per 100,000 people in 2002 to 716 per 100,000 people in 2010.

So in other words, more blacks are taking more drugs.

In an op-ed published in The Washington Post last month, Cathy Lanier, chief of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., acknowledged that the ACLU report "highlighted an important policy issue facing the nation."

They added that "the disproportionate arrest of blacks in D.C. is "a complex issue that cannot be boiled down to an allegation that Metropolitan Police Department selectively enforces the law against our black communities."

Chief Lanier pointed out that "59 percent of Metropolitan Police Department officers are black, a higher proportion than the city as a whole."

And How About Hate Crimes and White Thrill Killings?

Hate Crimes are based on victim's perceptions that the offender was motivated by bias against the victim's race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or associations with person identified by these characteristics.

For a crime to be classified as a hate crime in the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), the victim must report at least one of three types of evidence that the act was motivated by hate: the offender used hate language, the offender left behind hate symbols, or police investigators confirmed that the incident was hate crime.

As of 2011, Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and almost ten times more likely to commit robbery.

Blacks are three to four times more likely to use a hand gun, and twice more likely to use a knife.

Hispanics commit three times more violent crimes than whites, but the statistics are only so-so because sometimes they are classified as white -  so it could be higher.

Remember, George Zimmerman was first classified as White, then Hispanic - and by the end of the trial he was labled by the liberal media as "White-Hispanic."

The best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percent of the population that is black and Hispanic.

Blacks are 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against whites then vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit a robbery.

While 45% of black non-violent crime is against whites, 43% of black non-violent crime is against other blacks, and 10% are against Hispanics.

As for violent crimes, though 93% of black violent crime is against other blacks - their hate for whites and Hispanics is proven daily in hate crimes and thrill killings.

Cobb County man slaughtered in random Hate Crime in Black Mob attack

On July 1st, a group of black gang members brutally attacked and beat a random white pedestrian in Cobb County, Georgia.

He was then knocked onto the road where he was hit by oncoming traffic.

This story received minor coverage in the local news. If the races had been reversed this would be the biggest news story in the United States.

It would have knocked the Zimmerman trial out of the news.

From Marietta Daily Journal…

Four south Cobb teenagers are in custody in connection with the beating death of a 36-year-old Mableton man on Mableton Parkway early Sunday morning.

The incident initially was reported by police as a hit-and-run death over the weekend, but the narrative changed drastically Tuesday after the arrests of four teenagers on murder charges.

Jekari Oshay Strozier, 19; Antonio Shantwan Pass, 18; and Johnathan Donald Anthony, 18; all from Mableton, are in the Cobb County jail without bonds on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.

The fourth suspect, 18-year-old Kemonta Bonds of Mableton, turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon.

They have been accused in the beating death of Joshua Heath Chellew, 36, of Mableton and all but Bonds were arrested Monday afternoon by Cobb County investigators.

According to the warrant, the four teenagers are accused of starting a fight with Chellew at a Chevron gas station in the 6200 block of Mableton Parkway near Community Drive at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. They repeatedly punched and kicked him, according to police.

While attempting to escape, Chellew backed into the center five-lane highway and was pushed to the ground and knocked unconscious, the warrant states.

They then walked away from Chellew, “leaving him helpless,” and he was eventually hit by a car, the warrant states.

Columbia, South Carolina, mother of four slaughtered in Black Thrill Killing.

Police say black thugs stormed into a kitchen and shot a Kelly Hunnewell for no reason other than being white.

The thugs didn’t steal anything, nor was there anything of value in the kitchen to steal.

The perpetrators are three black males. The attack appears to be a random hate crime.

As sick as it sounds, police call her murder a "thrill killing."

San Francisco woman horrifically beaten in Hate Crime in Black Mob attack

June 30, 2013 at around 1:50 am a white female was brutally attacked at random by five black males and a black female.

The black perpatrators ranged from late teens to mid twenties.

Surveillance video captured a horrific kick to the head, while the victim was already on the ground.

Media Blackout: Black Gang "Hunts" Whites In Cincinnati

On July 8, police in Cincinnati, Ohio arrested a group of black youths after a four day campaign of "hunting" and terrorizing whites in the city’s downtown section during the Independence Day holiday.

It was recently reported that Cortez Baker, 16, Randolph Jones, 16, and Kentrelle Aldridge, 16, were charged with several counts of robbery and assault.

Surveillance tape shows the criminals beating and robbing at least 4 different people in the Queen City’s downtown section.

Cincinnati police report that the black punks involved, probably called "children" by Trayvon Martin supporters, told the police that they thought it was a "game."

Captain Paul Broxterman told WLWT TV 5 News that you could "equate" this incident to "a pack of lions hunting down a wounded zebra."

An alert Cincinnati bike cop is credited with identifying one of the black assailants - and he led police to the other two.

They are all from Kelly Youth Services, a Cincinnati group home for troubled children.

One of the victims told reporters in Cincinnati that he tried to stay within view of a surveillance camera as the three beat and robbed him.

Imagine how many whites got beat up and left who the police don't know about?

And as for the liberal media?

Would they treat this story with heavy coverage if it were three white teenagers "hunting" black people "like a wounded zebra"? You bet they would!

If it were the other way around, we’d have a national media feeding frenzy with black militant leaders such as Al $harpton - and no, he is no Reverend - running to Cincinnati to incite racial tensions.

I’d say this story would have replaced the Zimmerman Trial as the main news story, if only it were whites attacking blacks.

But since it was blacks attacking whites, we hear the sound of silence coming from the liberal news media.

In Houston, Trayvon Martin Protesters Beat Grandmother Trying To Rush Child To The Hospital

Hundreds of people marched in protest to the George Zimmerman verdict on Monday.

“No justice, no peace,” they yelled as they walked from the Byrd Funeral Home in the 2500 block of Wheeler to the Southmore Street overpass bridge near Highway 288.

Just after 7p.m. Monday, the demonstrators spilled out onto the road and blocked traffic for about 15 minutes.

“I looked up and I see all the protesters, they’re everywhere,” said Georgia, who asked that her last name not be used. “So, we got into the traffic and they’re stopping us and not letting us go.”

Georgia was on her way to Texas Children’s Hospital in the Medical Center because her 7-year-old granddaughter was having an allergic reaction to some medication.

Georgia’s daughter was driving and tried to go around the demonstrators by driving on the grassy shoulder.

“One of them was hitting the windshield and I was just screaming, ‘We’ve got to get to the hospital,’ and they were screaming and chanting,” she said. “All I could think of was, I got to get my granddaughter to the hospital.”

“My mom rolled down the window,” said Georgia’s daughter. “She said, ‘We’re trying to get my granddaughter to the hospital,’ and a guy just started hitting her.”

A Local 2 camera covering the protest recorded the entire incident.

On the video you could see Georgia sitting in the front seat of an SUV, she had her window down and you can see a man reach in and grab her. Georgia said she was hit.

These and more all point to a black epidemic of violence.

Yes, a crime epidemic that is not politically correct to talk about in the liberal media.

The reason? It's simple, there are those like President Obama and the liberal media who want to perpetuate the myth that says blacks can't be racists or do hate crimes.

Many around the nation know different, and that including George Zimmerman's family.

His parents have now told ABC News that they have received death threats and have been unable to return to their home following the verdict

"We have had an enormous amount of death threats," Robert Zimmerman said.

"George's legal counsel has had death threats, the police chief of Sanford, many people have had death threats … ‘Everyone with Georgie's DNA should be killed' -- just every kind of horrible thing you can imagine."

You think that maybe someone in the White House would educate President Obama as to what is really going on in America to people of all colors and not just blacks?

You think that maybe he'd move pass his own racist inclinations and hate for whites, and then use his position as President of the United States to do something productive and positive and speak to the pain and suffering of the rest of the country at the hands of blacks?

One would hope, but frankly, I don't see that happening.

Obama Has No Compassion For The Zimmermans

Since being elected President, a lot of people in the liberal media have made a lot out of the fact that Barack Hussein Obama is a black man.

In what is supposed to be a color-blind society, it seems that we are reminded of this almost everyday in one way shape or another.

The liberal media and the Democrats celebrated his election by saying that his election trumpeted in a new era for America.

We were told that Obama will be less divisive, and bring more unity to our country - especially among the races.

During his first presidential campaigns, he did not run as a man running to be the "President of Black America".

And no, most of us did not even consider such an proposition would take place. No, not in my wildest dreams did I ever think that we would elect a president who would openly concern himself with the well-being of only one racial group of Americans.

With the Zimmerman verdict, President Obama has made himself the champion of black-America while successfully turning his back on the rest of the nation.

He has made himself the representative of black-America and only of black-America.

Imagine what he is doing?

Can you imagine if we had a White President who publicly showed himself to be a racist against blacks, or Hispanics, or Asian Americans?

Can you imagine if we elected a president who was so caught up with his own ethnic background that he only preferred to address the cares and concerns of that specific group over those of other Americans?

Well, that is what we have in President Obama.

For years now, it has been the policy of this administration to work in concert with the liberal media and label those who oppose his policies as "Racists."

We who have disagreed with him, have been told in the liberal media that we "secretly" don't agree with Obama because he was a Black man.

Over and over again, we have seen "Race" being used as a weapon to ward off opposition and criticism of his policies and programs.

And yes, accusations of racism have been used as a crutch. A crutch for their incompetence and failure.

Is Obama and others in his administration "racists"?

How about his appointed U.S. Attorney General who once referred to "his people" in a Congressional Hearing - as a reference to other black-Americans.

Do we have a "racist" and "white hater" in the White House? I believe the answer is yes.

President Obama addressed the George Zimmerman verdict today for the second time since Zimmerman was acquitted nearly a week ago.

The first time, he issued a statement saying that America should "honor Trayvon Martin."

And today? Well, today, the president interrupted a new conference to relate his own experiences to the "pain" the black community is feeling and going on to question so-called "stand-your-ground" laws.
During a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room, Obama suggested race may have played a strong role in the case, saying that if a "white male teen" were involved, "both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different."
Can you imagine this idiot saying such a thing?

He went far beyond his remarks a year ago in which he stirred controversy by saying if he had a son, he'd look like Martin.

And yes, Obama certainly wasn't content to shut up after issuing a statement calling for Americans to honor the young punk who was killed while in the process of "ground and pound" smashing Zimmerman's head into the cement pavement trying to kill him!

Today Obama said, "Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago."

The president used the highly personal comments to put the anger in the black community in "context."

Since Obama went to expensive private schools and was only a dope smoking punk by choice and not economic circumstance, allow me to put the black community's anger in "context"

How's this?
  • Blacks are angry that Trayvon Martin didn't get away with murder!
  • Blacks are angry in an attempt to get the public to accept the lie that Trayvon Martin was the victim - when in fact George Zimmerman was the victim here.
  • Blacks are angry that Trayvon Martin failed to kill a "Whitey"!
  • Blacks are angry that Zimmerman killed Martin before he himself was killed!
  • Blacks wanted Zimmerman to get the death penalty!
The black community, and maybe Obama as well, acts as though this is what took place that night:

Trayvon Martin was such a sweet small sickly helpless child who was really just an innocent by-stander skipping down a street smelling flowers and counting raindrops when he was realized to his horror that he was being stalked by the White racist Martial Arts expert George Zimmerman who then cornered Martin and knocked the poor helpless child down to the ground. Once on the ground, Zimmerman jumped on him and started beating Martin severely until Zimmerman finally pulled his pistol and shot him - then reloaded and shot the little child Martin again and again. After that, the racist Zimmerman put on his White-Hispanic Ku Klux Klan robes and went looking for another poor helpless little child to victimize!

As much fiction as that is, it seem that that is what the black community and Obama are accepting as the truth.

But what is Obama forgetting about?
  • Forget who was assaulting who.
  • Forget that Trayvon Martin was the assailant - not the victim.
  • Forget that Trayvon Martin was being a Racist when he attacked "White" George Zimmerman.
  • Forget the facts of what happened that night.
  • Forget who approached who and threw the punch that broke Zimmerman's nose
  • Forget who was sitting on top of Zimmerman smashing his head into the concrete in an attempt to kill him.
  • Forget that Zimmerman thought he was going to die.
  • Forget that Zimmerman passed a lie-detector test that very night right afterwards.
  • Forget what police investigators found.
  • Forget that the police ruled it Self-Defense that night.
  • Forget what the evidence says.
  • Forget that all of the facts were weighed and it had absolutely nothing to do with race - no matter how much Obama wants that to be the case.
  • Forget that the court was extremely sensitive to the issue of race during the trial - because of the president's remarks a year earlier.
  • Forget that the president might have felt better about the assault on Zimmerman if Zimmerman were dead.
  • Forget that blacks wanted Zimmerman charged and convicted and didn't want to settle for less - even when the facts did not support their false conclusion.
And how about the black protesters, what do they have in comon with the president?
  • Forget trying to talk to those who are angry about this. They want "Justice For Trayvon!"
  • Forget "Justin For George," he doesn't count. He's the wrong color, the wrong race, the wrong heritage, the wrong ancestry.
  • Forget "Justice For George," he's not black!
Want proof? Today, Obama said, if a "white male teen" were involved, "both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different."

How does he know that?

If your lights were going out because someone was on top of you pounding your head into the cement - does Obama really think that the victim is going to stop and give a shit if the assailant is white or black?

Obama's not only a racist, he's also a fool if he thinks that that's the case!

Besides giving empathy for the Martin family while completely ignoring the Zimmerman family, today Obama gave support to Attorney General Eric Holder's call earlier in the week for a review of "stand-your-ground" laws.

Even though the Florida "Stand-Your-Ground" law had absolutely nothing to do with the case at hand, Obama and Holder want to see it changed.

They don't like the idea that people can "legally" fight back and use deadly force if threatened with death.

Imagine that for a minute?

You are getting your ass kicked and feel like you are going to die, but the Federal Government says you still don't have the right to try to stop your assailant even if it means killing him?

The Florida law allows people to use lethal force if they feel their life is threatened -- even if they might have the option of retreating.

I can only hope that neither Obama or Holder are ever in that position. But of course, they wouldn't be because they have armed security around them 24/7.

Believe it or not, Obama said, "If we're sending a message as a society ... that someone who is armed potentially has the right to use those firearms even if there's a way for them to exit from a situation, is that really going to be contributing to the kind of peace and security and order that we'd like to see?"

The president acknowledged that the law was not part of the Zimmerman defense, but suggested the laws might still "encourage" violence.

In a provocative statement, the president also questioned whether Martin, if he had a gun, could have been "justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman because he felt threatened."

Of course, that is asinine, anyone who knows anything about carrying a weapon knows that that one has to feel as though their life is in mortal danger before deadly force can be used.

And for you liberals out there, no, the law does not say that you can just draw your pistol and shoot because someone looked threatening - we really do understand the difference between look threatening and having our life threatened.

And please remember this, Zimmerman didn't draw his pistol and fire when he was approached by the bigger Martin - or when he got his nose broken by Martin.

Zimmerman used deadly force only as a last resort when he thought he was going to be killed.

Since becoming president, Obama has shown apathy for the poor, ignorance of the needs of the unemployed, all while giving lip service to the uneducated as he cuts the services of seniors and the disabled.

Now Obama is showing that he is unconcerned for those who are the victims of criminal activity such as rape and assault with the intent to kill.

Obama believes the defenseless should remain victims and not be legally able to stand and defend themselves - telling them that they have "an obligation to retreat".

His Attorney General Eric Holder said that every American has the "obligation to retreat even if that means leaving their own home" if threatened.

The Obama administration does not believe that we should take a stand and fight to protect the people and the things that we love and have worked so hard for.

Obama and his administration say that we should run away! That we are "obligated" to run away, to retreat!

Obama said he understands that protests may have to "work (their) way through," but said these cases are traditionally handled by state and local authorities.

He said Holder is reviewing, but that people should have "clear expectations."
Obama reiterated that the jury -- at the state level -- has spoken.

But Obama said, "It's important to recognize that the African American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences, and a history that doesn't go away."

Obama said there are "very few" black men who haven't been followed while shopping at a department store -- "that includes me."

"I don't want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African American community interprets what happened one night in Florida," Obama said.

I say, OK, but let's be fair about this. It's important to recognize that the White and Hispanic and Asian American communities are looking at this issue through a set of experiences, and a history that doesn't go away also.

There are reasons for people to be apprehensive of blacks who look like punks. The black community is 13% of the population and responsible for over 50% of the crime in our country.

Statistics show that they are the ones who commit most of the crime in America.

Sorry, but like it or not, you reap what you sow!

Everything that we do has consequences, benefits and repercussions. It comes back to us one way or another.

We cannot escape the consequences of our actions. We will see the long-term effects of our actions.

I'm a big believe in conducting yourself in a way that is positive for myself, my family, friends, and those around me. Yes, what goes around comes around.

Like it or not, our actions have consequences.

To think that someone can follow the whole gangster lifestyle and not have consequences is fooling yourself.

The president did not forget to say that his thoughts are with the Martin family, but he did not make mention of what the entire Zimmerman family has had to endure since that night.

Obama failed to mention that the entire Zimmerman family and their lawyers have had many multiple death threats, financial troubles, and a great deal of hardship.

For George Zimmerman, he lost his freedom and every promise of a good life. He is a man who has had to disguise himself, go into hiding, and may even have to change his name to live an unimpeded life in America.

Did President Obama once look at life from George Zimmerman's point of view?
  • Would death have been better for George Zimmerman?
  • Would it all have just been better if he allowed Trayvon Martin, that sweet little child, to bash his head in and kill him?
  • Why isn't George Zimmerman considered the victim? Is it because he fought back and survived the assault?
  • What about Zimmerman's family, haven't they been through a lot?
  • Why no compassion for them Mr President?
  • What about his family's safety?
  • What about George Zimmerman's Civil Rights?
  • Why is it that the President of the United States believes that it was OK for Trayvon Martin to violate George Zimmerman's Civil Rights by attacking him - yet it is not OK for George Zimmerman to fight back with the only means that he had to stay alive?
  • Why is George Zimmerman's life worth less than Trayvon Martin's to the President? Is it because George Zimmerman is not black and Trayvon Martin was?
Is it because Martin was black?

Does the president see the lives of black assailants as being more precious than their victims - especially if the victims are White or Hispanic or Asian?

Obama is catering to the black community to stoke the fires of discontent by using his powerful office.

An example of that is by his making the Justice Department find a way to convict Zimmerman - even if he is an innocent man.
