Keeping It Simple -- Country of Immigrants

By Terry McGahey

Other than the Native American Indians, the majority of our ancestors came to the United States of America as immigrants.

Yes our family trees all have roots which reach back to other countries no matter if it's Europe, or any other part of the world.

And yes, most of our ancestors can traced back to Ellis Island, where people were processed into our country while being checked over for disease.

If an immigrant at that time was found to have a disease, he or she was taken into a hospital ward on the island and not allowed to enter the U.S. until such time that they were declared clear of the malady.

Personally, I have no problem with people wanting to migrate to the United States as long as they do it in the legal manner.

By allowing illegal entry into our country, no matter where they come from, we are opening our doors to disease, rapists, drug dealers, other criminals of all types, and yes, terrorists.

Now don't get me wrong, along with these types of people there are good decent hard working people who just want a better life for themselves and their families.

Without processing them into our country in the legal manner, and insisting that they learn the language and assimilate into our society, we have no idea who, or what type of people we are allowing to come into our country.

They may even be carrying diseases which could re-infect our own people of the types of diseases we had worked so hard to eradicate over the years.

Personally, I am sick and tired of hearing the terms Mexican-American, African-American, Irish-American, Italian-American and so on.

If you are truly an American these terms should be reversed to, American-Mexican, American-Irish, American-Chinese and so on.

It's my opinion, and mine only, that by using the name of another country's nomenclature in front of "American", it becomes one of the major things that adds to the division of our people in this country.

We all should be Americans first! Not second, if we ever expect to pull together as one nation.

We the people, no matter your ethnic background, have to pull together in order to take our country back.

As long as the government can keep us hating each other they win because we are to busy looking at each other to pay attention to what their actual agenda is, which is to rule instead of govern.

Now this administration wants to let in thousands of Syrians into our country.

What part of the world do you think many of the terrorists come from?

If our government is allowed to get away with this there will be even more dissension between people than there is now.

This will add even more to the hate that divides this country already, which is fine with the government because we will pay even less attention to what they are doing than what we do now.

Wake up people!

Don't you understand, the more lawlessness or terrorist activities that take place, the more the chance this administration or any other behind it can declare Martial Law. And if that happens, we are possibly done as a free people.

Now I am sure that some people will try to paint me as a racist because of this article, which I am not.  They may try to paint me as an alarmist, which I am not.

I am only trying to give my readers another way to look at what could possibly happen. I don't have a crystal ball, nor can I predict the future, but on the other hand, these things are possible.

I only ask that you think about it!
